The Trust is committed to helping and supporting the development of sustainable tourism in Glencoe and Lochaber and is currently working in a number of ways to do this;
  • Promoting the Scottish Outdoor Access Code
  • Organising the A82 Working Group – looking at improving the quality of parking and viewpoint facilities for visitors along the A82
  • Playing a role in the development of the Lochaber Geopark
  • Running Seminars and Training on sustainable development and practices
  • Partnerships with operators and local businesses
  • Participation in Trans-national Nature Based Tourism project
  • Supporting a Community led access improvement project - The Glencoe Orbital Route
  • Involvement in Management for People – a SNH Planning manual
  • Development of Visitor Management techniques
  • Managing an eco-friendly visitor centre
Being sustainable means that we help develop tourism that;
  • Protects the natural environment
  • Respects local cultures and traditions
  • Benefits local communities, economically and socially
  • Conserves natural resources
  • Minimises pollution
…helping to keeping our environment in good heart for present and future generations to enjoy…
